Sir Joan is the first beachside retreat for Sir Hotels group and perfectly embodies the free-spirit ethos of Ibiza.
Sir Joan is an exclusive luxury destination that boasts nostalgic views over the old town and the marina, after which the design takes its inspiration. With the launch of Sir J., the Amsterdam-based hospitality group has now expanded its portfolio to five properties.
Liran Wizman, the founder, and Tel Aviv-based Baranowitz + Kronenberg have created a standout building made up of shimmering, staggered cubes. The interiors of the guest rooms feature walls and ceilings that look like choppy water, meanwhile the round mirrors resemble the windows below deck on a yacht. The 38 rooms are also adorned with curated artworks by Spanish artists Joan Hernandez Pijuan, Carlos Irijalba Inercia and photographs by Ibiza-based Landry A. The interiors of the public areas feature the same deceiving, reflective metals and textured woods giving off the effect that you’re vacationing on a boat. And since this is Ibiza we’re talking about, the hotel wouldn’t be complete without a heated triangular pool surrounded by cabanas and lounge chairs for resting and relaxing.
The hotel’s in-house restaurant, Izakaya, with its Peruvian-Japanese menu of fresh sushi and sashimi or Robata-grilled meats is a refreshing alternative to the usual tapas offerings. For pure indulgence, order a juicy burger and sweet potato fries from The Butcher. It’s open from 7pm until very very early in the morning. We tried it and it’s absolutely delicious!
